Goalkeeper Paul shines as India win Nehru Cup
Goalkeeper Subrata Paul emerged hero as India beat Syria 5-4 in sudden-death in the final to win the five-nation Nehru Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar stadium on Monday.

The teams were locked goalless at full-time and 1-1 after extra-time.

The 22-year-old Paul brought off three fine saves, including one in sudden-death, to help the hosts retain the title.

Renedy Singh put India ahead in the eighth minute of the second period of extra-time curling home a low free-kick from 35 yards, before Ali Dyab darted in from nowhere to head home the equalizer for the Syrians a minute from the final whistle.

Climax Lawrence, Sunil Chhetri, Steven Dias, Anwar Ali and Surkumar Singh were successful from the spot for India while Renedy Singh sent the goalkeeper the wrong way only to see his kick ricochet off the upright, and the Syrian keeper easily saved Mehrajuddin Wadoo's attempt.

Raja Rafe, Mosab Balhous, Abdul Fatah [ Images ] Alaga and Abdul Razak Al Hussain were on target for Syria while the kicks taken by Hamzeh Al Attouni, Wael Ayan and Ahmad Haj Muhammad were saved by Paul.

India earned US $40,000, while Syria will return home richer by US $20,000.

The victory gave India coach Bob Houghton a hat-trick of titles, having earlier guided the team to the last Nehru Cup crown in 2007 and AFC Cup Challenge in 2008.

Journey to Kolad

Kolad is a Nondescript Village Near Mumbai 120 Kms from Dadar and some 70 Kms from Panvel on Goa Route. Its famous for River Kundalika , river rafting, numerous waterfalls and natural ponds in vicinity.

The place is magical to say the least. For those looking for a hideout or a getaway to nature in rains, Kolad is the place to be. Mobile phone will not bother you and so will the TV or FM or any outside world contact.

The drive to place is heavenly to say least(Though do not forget spare wheel) and coupled with rains you feel greenery thrown on your eyes.

While traveling from Dadar- drive till Panvel and take a turn towards Pen just before the Pune Highway begins. Keep driving 25 Kms for Pen and cross it to reach Vadhkal Naka- take a left for Goa highway, cross Nagothane after 25 Kms and reach Kolad. ST buses are also available and nearest railway station is Nagothane

Natural Ponds

Kolad offers wide range of activities and leisures. If you are a nature lover, you will love the beauty of the way which proves the adage- Path to glory is always better than the destination. The pond in this picture is one of the 100s we found on our way and could not help but stop to drench in rain and feel the fresh air. The best part of the place is the less headcount, where as Mumbai Pune residents prefer Lonavala, Kolad is for those who want to beat the rush and give people a miss. The water to these ponds come through Tiny streams flowing from mountains so no worries of water being salty or chlorinated..

Fishing

Kolad is situated on the banks of river Kundalika, which is an all season river with an undiscovered array of flora and fauna to offer . We purchased the locally made fishing gear from local market and tried to angle it. To our dismay we could not get even a single fish on the banks. Though we could see the local people going with their catches. My desire to click a picture a la fishermen died there only. But its sure shot way to pass time guzzling whichever drink one prefers.

The surrounding of the place are picturesque and serene to the core, and we were told that whose who of Mumbai have their out houses on the river Bank. The houses in the pic and in inset are supposedly of some rich people from bambai- locales informed.

Waterfalls and Hiking

When you visit a place like Kolad, you know you have nothing to do, then’s the time you are ACTUALLY tempted to do some thing, time for some adventure. We were informed by our host about the number of waterfalls around the place. Just one and a half Km walk from our hotel, we reached the trek which takes you to this beautiful cascade of white water. No souls in hindsight, all are suggested to lose the inhibitions and take a dip. The path is in itself an arduous one and then when you reach the waterfall, you feel like its heaven and it cleanses you inside out- total bliss. Waterfalls are much cleaner and serene as compared to the ones near Bhushi Dam in Lonavla. Though its safe to bath but always be cautious for lack of lifeguard. Word of caution- when its raining hard- the waterfall can crack you skull!

Rafting on Kundalika

Whats Kolad without rafting-any resident will tell you!

From Kolad Drive down to Goa highway and take a Left turn after two Kms towards Pune to reach Bhira. 5-7 Kms before Bhira, take a left turn again to reach the rafting point. White Water rafting is the organization that tales care of water activities and are well equipped with latest equipments and life guards. If you are lucky or have reached before 8 AM, gates of Bhira Dam are opened and the serene river takes form of a monster finding

its way through rocks and trees and gulping down everything which comes in its way and the raft going ups and downs like traveling on boulders or rocks. We rafted in the second lot and could just see water residing below the turbulent level before we could set sail. The total distance vua river is 12 Kms and tales some 2 and a ½ Hours to complete. They also allow you to swim in river which is 20-50 Ft deep at most places. For those who are not swimmers, the life jacket hold you afloat for 48 hours!! The experience is indescribable. Don’t forget to lift the raft back , things they make you do in name of adventure!

The Stay

We stayed at a resort called Doctor’s Farm, not a lavish one but with all amenities one requires in a jungle. Its basically a horticulture farm and has nice plantations of flowers and trees. As for swimming pool, they pump the river water

in the pool and hence no chlorine, they also have fishing rods placed at all banks.

Hammocks, swings, basketball court, volleyball court, river side restaurant and nice views makes it a place to stay. Ask the owner and he will arrange for the rafting also. Do look at the huge cactus trees around the campus and you cant stop wondering about the cactus supposed to grow in deserts! Keep Odomos handy for sure.

Taxis are a mess in Mumbai/ Delhi and where not?

Imagine a sunny day with 99 in the shade at 3 PM in May month, you are already red on face with work and are looking for a taxi to reach a place.

1. Delhi- The auto/taxi driver comes and you ask him the fare for the place and he shoots his mouth with a fare twice the fare of your destination.....

2. Mumbai- The auto/taxi driver says no so blatantly because the distance is very near and he is looking for a bigger customer. And imagine this happens to you daily.........

I at times feel like banging my head or banging the drivers head that why did I even ask him for a ride.....

Should they not be under Essential commodities act wherein they can not say a no to any one asking for a ride and should not be there fares fixed in all cities with Meteres running smoothly.

I stood awake late night on 2nd September to find if I could download the New Google Browser- Chrome

The whole Blogospehere was abuzz with the talks of its functionalities and also about the pseudo leakout of Chrome screenshots which is now an old trick though- Duh!

Well, Chrome I would say is not bad with all those functionalities...........

Tabbed Browisng-- its cool- If some individual window gets corrupted, you do not have to shut all tabs like IE or Firefox -WoW

The last visited pages screenshot-quite uselful- Low Down- if you have just visited a Porn site- it does not help you delete a single history item and you end up losing all

Search Search- if its google- its search- the address Bar doubles up as Search bar too

Its Light weight- the whole set up is Just 474 KB-- No MBs

Believe me, Google sites open lightening fast as compared to IE or firefox

There is no STOP button- why???(SORRY- I FOUND THIS NOW)

Right click and see properties-- Nothing like it...... There is something called inspect element which is I dunno what to read out of it.....
Lots of Plug ins are missing for Adobe, Flash etc..

All in all a product which will go a long way and yes its from Google so we can be assured-it will catch upppppp

These Credit Card Companies are fooling you, me and everyone

These Credit card companies are just fooling around with our hard earned money and we thoughts it is only few companies who does it- Wake up guys there is a whole nexus of these buggers....Firstly, they all started with sayin that this card comes for free and all give some x number of days as creditSecondly, If the card is free and no interest is charged , then these companies are so good samaritans that they are paying for our credit - I just love them.SO HOW DO THEY MAKE MONEY MAN?? Obviously they are not doing any charity.If you look closely at your past statements, you will see that you have actually paid interest on the money you have spent..... why?? NEXUS.I do not know a single person who has fooled these companies and made money out of credit card..So,How do they make money?????1. For eg. you recieved your credit card bill- it say 12000 but it also says- minimum amount due- 1500 and you deposit 1500, you will still be charged interest on the remaining 10500 Rs.!!!! MONEY MADE.2. You shopped for 1000 on15th March, bill comes on 31st March, you think that 1000 can be paid on 15th april and skip the bill. Interest is levied on 1000 rs, from days your bill was due...... MONEY MADE. So- pay all bills even a day old shopping.3. Your bill comes of 10000 Rs. and you pay only 8000 and think that you can afford interest on 2000 rs. And then you shop for whole month thinking that this will not attract interest charges.. You are wrong again- Interest is levied on all purchases if you even have one rupee outstanding with them--- So effectively it means rather than enjoying credit, you have paid interest----- MONEY MADE.4. Cash Withdrawl- this is most interesting- when you withdraw cash from Credit card- you know that your interest period has started on the day you did it....... BUt you do not know that all your subsequent purchases in that month will all be interest liable from the time you purchase becaue you have committed the cardinal sin of withdrawing cash through credit card.........................It happens like this- AS soon as you withdraw cash-all your outstanding payments become due from that day and starts attracting interest, same applies to all your shopping till you pay full amount overdue!!!!!!!!!!MONEY MADE.SO, gear up, spread the news and save people from this weed which is credit card...

SEO or Search Engine or SEO is the latest Buzzword in Internet Search marketing scenario. Host of companies or individuals do not want to pay companies for keywords et al and try and invest money in optimization which is in itself altogether a new breed of again of those 20 somethings sitting in one room one PC offices.
What most advertisers forget or overlook is that being at top in google is not the only way to market yourself- google account over 50 % of websearches that occur on inter net BUT that leaves 50 % of markets unaddressed.

Online Ticketing woes
This is about the woes one can have when one falls into th trap of online ticket booking with travel sites like makemytrip, cleartrip, yatra etc. How these people hoodwink us into believing that they are the cheapest for booking online air tickets.- What a joke??
I was fooled but you should not..
I booked two tickets from cleartrip.com for 5500 including taxes for Jet airways jaipur to mumbai and i was happy that I got the best rates But I was in for lotta surprises- read on.
I wrongly entered 22 November instead of 23rd November.
So i thought now i will be charged for my mistake and readied to pay for the same. So i called cleartrip office- An ever pleasant voice executive explained" Sir, there are no tickets available for 23rd November flight in Economy class and we will have to upgrade you and you will have to pay airline and also cleartrip for cancellation charges and total cost of your tour which was 5500 would come to 12500 Rs. I was boggled and asked them what else can I do- can I preserve my tickets for some further journey- She said sir, when booking through us, your next journey would always be in higher class and these are OUR RULES."
I was disturbed with these arcane rules. I called Jet airways office and There another sweet voice trie to loot me and said sir, tickets are available for next day but it will cost you total 8500 for two tickets- i was desperate to go and I said ok do this- Sorry sir, you will have to come to our office to change them- THIS TOO AFTER I HAD BOOKED TICKETS ONLINe.
I went to airport in morning and detailed them my irony- With all clicks on comp she asked me to pay 1500 rs. more and get new tickets!!!!!!!! So i ended up paying 7000 for my journey of 5500 But was happy that i saved money- had it been for such arcane rules and untrained staff on phone- I would have been in loss of some money.
SO GET THE FACTS RIGHT- always book tickets directly if doing it online- Go directly to airlines website and do it- do not let middleman spoil your journey at any cost.

What a time it was when we could just see those few serials and ads... We were Fed as serials whetever we could digest - we had no option. Listed below are few of my favourite Ads not necessarily in likeable order

1.

This was the bajaj ad which was launched at a time when bajaj had an unsold stock of Chetak Scooters lying in godown due to poor sales and they were in desperation to sell it off. Honda came from Japan and gave scooter to Firodias and Bikes to Hero Motors- bajaj was no technically sound to have innovative products... But Ad was innovative...

WOW and HOW this ad was made- just awesome.

Credit card woes
Hi, I am sure you are of the breed which lives on credit card and still curse it(quite often).Sir/madam, this card does not have any fees to join, no fees per annum and it’s a lifetime free card…. We also give you credit for 30/40/50 days- what more, we will also give you points for every purchase which can be redeemed for gifts etc.WOW- these companies are so benevolent and they want to give their money to me…..But hold it dear--- even after knowing the fact – you curse it why….Lets get into detail- how these companies earn money and how they rob you….Have you ever noticed there are charges whenever your bill comes- service or interest etc.- Money made. But how does your money go even after you knew them???Lets say- you shopped for 20000 Rs. on March 25 and your card company gives you a months credit and you bill cycle is 1st to 31st and pay by 10th…… you think that you should pay by 25th april- But still you are charged interest in next bill- WHY? Because you forgot to read that all bill must be settled at the given dates –NO matter What- .Your credit card bill comes and it says bill amount 20000, minimum amount due 1500 and you happily pay 1500--- BUT remember you will have to still pay interest. Hence MONEY MADELets say, your bill amount is 20000 and you pay 15000 due to cash crunch and thought that you will pay interest on 5000 which you can afford!! And you shopped for another 25000 in the next month….. Your interest is then calculated on total amount outstanding till the last bill is cleared- so , effectively you did not get any credit period for 25000 Rs. and paid interest on 25000 Rs. Plus 5000 on last month. MONEY MADE..Now comes the cardinal sin of withdrawing cash from credit card. You know that the cash withdrawl attracts interests from the day you withdraw money…… So you withdraw 5000 Rs. and your credit card statement show interest charges higher than what it should have been for 5000 Rs. cash withdrawl….. Why?? Because you forgot to read the fine prints….. The day you withdraw cash, your outstanding on shopping which was unpaid as well as all the subsequent shoppings till you cleared all payments is WITHOUT credit period and interest is charged on them all. MONEY MADE……SO, Next time, we use our cards, lets use them judiciously. Remember- There are no free lunches in Life, at least not with Finance Cos.
